Team sports are played throughout the world and are considered one of the best ways to learn community values in a safe and controlled environment. Within the Blackswans organization, we are fortunate to have a group of volunteers and coaches that are committed to a high level of organization, while providing fundamental skill development across all age grades, all while teaching the core aspects of team work and dedication.

For Kids:

Competition: Promotes a healthy sense of competition and motivation to achieve.

Respect: Respecting their opponents teaches children about healthy conflict.

Teamwork: Playing in a team teaches essential social skills like sportsmanship, team spirit and cooperation.

Character building: Increases confidence and self-respect.

Concentration: Learning the strategic elements of the game enhances concentration and analytical skills.

Enjoyment: Competition bring boys and girls from all backgrounds together to have fun.

With the introduction of Stratford BlackCygnets flag rugby program we now offer weekly practice/games held on Sundays at our home field in Stratford (151 Lorne Ave E.) All ages under 13 are welcome. If your kids are outside of that age group, please contact one of the executive members of the club and we can discuss other options with you. Not only do we wish to teach the players about the sport of rugby, but we also to teach them life skills such as teamwork, competition, respect and responsibility. Though this is a non-contact sport, we will be teaching the kids the basics of how to tackle safely if they wish to pursue U-14 Rugby (which is full contact). Please feel free to contact any of the executive members if you have any questions.

Rugby is a sport enjoyed around the world for its tight knit community nature and its ability to bring people together from both across town, as well as across the planet. Keeping rugby strong in Canada is important to us.

For Adults:

Rugby teams are usually well known for their camaraderie, team atmosphere, social gatherings and how accommodating they are to people from all levels of experience.
The Blackswans echo this. We welcome all out to training to see what our great sport is all about. Being a contact sport, all sessions are taken seriously but after we finish, there is nothing quite like using a nice cold pint to keep the bruises in check!

Feel free to reach out to the Executive members of the club to get more information!
